"Glorify God, Grow in Christ, Share God's Love and Forgiveness"

The people of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church are part of God’s chosen. We are uniquely blessed in many ways. We are loved by Christ in spite of our sins. We are disciples seeking to know how Christ wants us to become better apostles. We are striving to grow in the image of God as revealed in the Gospel. We are forgiven and we strive to be forgiving.

WE ARE A CHRIST-CENTERED CHURCH

We have taken as our guide in all celebrating, learning, witnessing, and serving, the lifestyle and teachings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We will live our faith so that all people will feel that Christianity is worthy of respect, affirmation, and acceptance by 21st century men and women.

WE ARE A FAMILY PRIESTHOOD

We believe that the status of our congregational membership is one; that the laity is the "family priesthood" by virtue of their baptism; that the laity is the "people of God" in a corporate body, in mission together, ordained and non-ordained; that the corporate family is a team of servants to one another and to each member of the human family as neighbors. As a "royal priesthood" we equally and mutually share the ministry and mission. Our status is one and the same, even though the gifts, training, and experiences we bring to the up-building of the body and fulfillment of its mission vary.

WE ARE AN ECUMENICAL CHURCH

We shall honor and respect the confessions of faith held by all Christians: "There is one body and one Spirit, just as there is one hope to which God has called you. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism; there is one God and Father of all people, who is Lord of all, works through all, and is in all" (Ephesians 4:4-6). We seek to accept all people as brothers and sisters in our worship, learning, witnessing and serving, and to cooperate in programs with other congregations and agencies of the community and government to bring peace, justice, and wholeness to the life of all people.

WE ARE MISSIONAL PEOPLE

We devote ourselves to help the world find an understanding of God-in-life that is consistent with Christ Jesus’ promise: "He that believes in me, the works that I do shall he do also." Our programs shall attempt to meet the needs of people in our parish, community, nation and world. We recognize with this gigantic task the need to be flexible in communicating in different ways the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed.

Statement of Faith

The Bible, as a whole and in all its parts, is the divinely inspired, revealed and inerrant Word of God and is the only infallible authority in all matters of faith and life.

There is one God who is personal, infinite, perfect; He exists eternally as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ is both true God and true Man, the only Son of God and the only Savior of the world.

Salvation comes to us only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We find ourselves in a right standing before God, forgiven of our sins, and promised eternal life with Him through our faith in the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus.

The Holy Spirit works to call people into a saving faith in Jesus Christ, empowers believers to grow in sanctification, bestows gifts for the ministry of the Church, inspires love for one another, and works to bring glory to Jesus Christ.

We accept the confessional writings of the Lutheran Church because they are the true exposition of the Bible’s message and a summary of the faith of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
